Job description

About Us
Skydweller Aero Inc. is a transatlantic cutting-edge aerospace company developing solar powered aircraft solutions capable of achieving perpetual flight with heavy, and powerful payload capacity. Utilizing technology based upon the longest continuous renewably powered flight program in history, this fast-growing startup is developing a new class of unmanned aircraft, providing the persistence of geosynchronous satellites with the powerful sensing capabilities and the flexibility of a large, airborne platform. Skydweller Aero Inc. has World and US headquarters in Oklahoma City and European offices headquartered in Spain.
About the Role
The rapid advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Agentic AI architectures has accelerated the adoption of artificial intelligence across multiple technical disciplines. Aerospace, Autonomous Systems, and Defense are beginning to leverage these technologies to accelerate and reduce the cost of the R&D lifecycle from concept to operational capability.
Skydweller is seeking an Intern to support the development of Agentic AI capabilities within a safety-critical aerospace R&D environment. This role focuses on building an AI agent prototype from the ground up, providing hands-on experience with core agentic AI building blocks-from architecture and tool integration to implementation and testing.
Student Requirements
  • Interns must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at an Oklahoma college/university, or CareerTech students concurrently enrolled in college-level coursework.

Qualifications
  • Graduate or upper-level undergraduate student in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Proven experience with Python programming
  • Prior participation in R&D projects, especially in the fields of Aerospace, Meteorology, Applied Physics, or simulations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts (LLMs, APIs), or data processing preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Python code using version control (Git) and software best practices
  • Help build and test an Agentic AI working prototype aligned to a real-world R&D use case
  • Document code, workflows, and system architecture
  • Participate in agile development cycles, design reviews, and technical discussions

What You'll Learn
  • End-to-end AI Agent development (design → implementation → deployment)
  • Practical application of LLMs and emerging Agentic AI architectures
  • Software development in a production-oriented aerospace environment
  • System design under real-world compute and operational constraints

Work Environment
This internship is onsite at the Skydweller Oklahoma City (OKC) Office. The role integrates the intern directly into active aerospace R&D workflows, providing exposure to advanced autonomous systems development and collaboration with AI and engineering teams.
Why Join Skydweller
  • Work on cutting-edge AI applications in aerospace and autonomy
  • Contribute to real-world R&D with measurable impact
  • Gain hands-on experience in one of the fastest-evolving areas of technology
  • Build skills directly aligned with high-demand engineering careers
