PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR-CALGARY, AB

MCF/JBS, CALGARY – NIGHT SHIFT

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of 4 locations: JBS Canada Head Office (Calgary), the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, Mountain Creek Farms (MCF in Calgary, AB) case ready plant and JBS Ontario (Belleville, ON) case ready plant.

MCF produces value-added products including marinated, portioned, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more from primarily beef primals but also other species in conjunction with adherence to grading, HALAL, Organic requirements / certifications. MCF is a SQF certified, Federally Registered Establishment. We are currently seeking a PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR to join our team at our Calgary facility in Calgary, AB.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Plans and schedules manpower, materials, product and machines to most effectively and efficiently utilize departmental policies and procedures fairly and equitably to maintain standards established for safety, quality and overall company personnel satisfaction.
  • Work with Production Scheduler and Operations teams to maintain make sheet accuracy and meet required product specifications for both domestic and international customers.
  • Manages employee performance, providing positive and/or corrective feedback.
  • Direct hourly unionized employees for the efficient operation of the facility.
  • Promotes department and company goodwill through pro-active employee communication and employee involvement.
  • Identify and facilitate the implementation of process improvements and cost savings opportunities aligned with system utilization goals (KPI’s) and key business objectives.
  • Investigates, in cooperation with other departments, areas of quality improvement, cost reduction, method improvement yield control and equipment maintenance and provides suggestions.
  • Document and maintain accurate records with respect to employee performance, product quality, daily reconciliation, health and safety, and payroll.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and provide step by step guidance to production team members to ensure best in class processes are implemented consistently across the organization.
  • Develop, lead and coach employees through effective training and recognition.
  • Effective implementation and maintenance of the Company's safety program evidenced by an exemplary safety record and due diligence documentation. Utilize best practices in safety leadership (orientation, training, observation, correction, positive reinforcement).
  • Active involvement and leadership in the Continuous Improvement Program to achieve productivity improvements and waste reduction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory work experience;
  • Effective communication skills to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and resolve employee conflict
  • Self-starter with good analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Completion of College Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset

  • Previous experience in a food processing industry is required.
