Pay: Up to $36 an hour (DOE)

Shift: 2nd and 3rd shift available

Position Overview:

We're partnering with a growing aerospace-focused manufacturer in Indianapolis, IN to hire a CMM Operator / Metrology Technician. In this role, you'll be responsible for performing precision inspections, validating product quality, and supporting manufacturing operations through advanced metrology and measurement technologies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented quality professional who enjoys working with cutting-edge inspection equipment, solving technical challenges, and ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality and precision. You'll play a key role in supporting aerospace manufacturing operations through dimensional inspection, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform dimensional inspections using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and other advanced metrology equipment

  • Conduct in-process, final, and first article inspections to verify compliance with engineering requirements

  • Inspect components, assemblies, tooling, and finished products to ensure quality standards are met

  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, CAD models, and GD&T requirements

  • Generate inspection reports, First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), dimensional reports, and customer-required documentation

  • Analyze inspection data and identify quality trends, process deviations, and improvement opportunities

  • Investigate quality concerns and report design, process, or manufacturing inefficiencies

  • Support internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Operate advanced metrology equipment including laser trackers, portable CMM arms, laser scanners, and total stations

  • Utilize metrology software such as Verisurf, PolyWorks, Spatial Analyzer, BuildIT, and similar applications

  • Maintain inspection equipment through calibration verification and routine performance checks

  • Ensure measurement equipment remains clean, accurate, and in proper working condition

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve inspection and quality-related issues

  • Maintain accurate quality records and inspection documentation in accordance with company and customer requirements

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality inspection, metrology, aerospace manufacturing, composites manufacturing, or related industries

  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint interpretation

  • Experience performing inspections using CMMs and other precision measurement equipment

  • Experience with laser trackers (Leica, Faro, API), portable CMM arms (Romer, Faro), 3D laser scanners, or similar metrology equipment preferred

  • Familiarity with metrology software such as Verisurf, PolyWorks, Spatial Analyzer, BuildIT, or equivalent platforms

  • Knowledge of 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality concerns and process issues

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
