Job Description:
Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite Maintenance Technician in our Student Housing division. This position performs preventive maintenance on all Student Housing electrical, mechanical, building structure, plumbing, ventilation systems and components. The hourly pay is $18.50.
Responsibilities:
  • Respond to daily work orders and perform preventive maintenance that includes pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • Clean heating and cooling coils.
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses and motor fans.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Assemble and install furniture, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Monitor temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and assist in logging equipment recordings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 2 years of general building maintenance experience.
  • Good mechanical ability.
  • The ability to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.
  • The ability to work at various heights on ladder, bucket trucks, etc.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Must be able to work an on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Commercial or industrial experience.
