Job description

Generator Service Technician

Weisman Electric Co.

Location: Multiple Locations
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $25.00–$35.00 per hour

About the Position

Weisman Electric Co. is seeking an experienced Generator Service Technician to join our growing team. If you have experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining residential standby generator systems and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, we'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair residential standby generator systems, including:
    • Generator controls
    • Engines
    • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
  • Perform preventative maintenance and complete system testing.
  • Install residential standby generators and transfer switches.
  • Ensure all installations comply with local and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
  • Read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Order materials as needed for service and installation.
  • Complete daily service reports and communicate warranty repairs, follow-up work, and additional service recommendations to the Generator Service Manager.
  • Occasionally service commercial diesel generators as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience servicing automatic generator systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Own reliable transportation and hand tools.
  • Ability to pass a drug screening.

Preferred

  • Experience with Generac and/or Briggs & Stratton generator systems.
  • Experience installing residential or commercial electrical power circuits.
