Job description

Job Title: Overhead Door Service TechnicianJob Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Overhead Door Service Technician to install, service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and/or residential overhead doors and related systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, customer-oriented, and able to work independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, repair, and maintain overhead doors, rolling steel doors, dock equipment, and related hardware

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues and determine appropriate repair solutions

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections to ensure safe and proper operation

  • Troubleshoot and repair door operators, motors, controls, sensors, and safety devices

  • Replace or adjust springs, cables, rollers, tracks, panels, hinges, and seals

  • Respond to service calls in a timely and professional manner

  • Accurately complete work orders, service reports, and documentation

  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding repairs, costs, and maintenance recommendations

  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations

  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and inventory in good working condition

  • Participate in on-call or emergency service rotation as required

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Previous experience as an overhead door technician, garage door technician, or related mechanical trade preferred

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints

  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment

  • Valid driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials (up to 75 lbs or more)

  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

Preferred Skills (Not Required)
  • Experience with commercial doors, dock levelers, and high-speed doors

  • Electrical troubleshooting or low-voltage experience

  • Welding or fabrication experience

  • OSHA, lift, or safety certifications

  • Manufacturer-specific certifications

Work Environment & Schedule
  • Field-based role with travel to customer locations

  • Full-time position; overtime and after-hours work may be required

  • On-call rotation for emergency service
