The Utah State Hospital is seeking a dedicated OT to join our Pediatric team in Provo, Utah. This is an incredible opportunity to work with a diverse patient population within our forensic and adult psychiatric programs, helping individuals develop the skills they need for a more independent and stable life. The shift is Monday through Friday-No Weekends Required!

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:
  • Evaluate patient needs and administer therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as behavioral management skills, social skills, and activities of daily living, with intermittent focus on range of motion, strength, activity tolerance, coordination and mobility.
  • Effectively document and communicate patient progress and response to treatment.
    Work closely with a multidisciplinary care team of psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurses, social workers, and others to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist.

Preferred qualifications:
  • The ability to assess for and treat physical, cognitive, or social limitations.
  • Experience in group treatment protocols and evidence supported practice.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Willingness and self motivation to learn and establish essential competencies.

About the Role
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with psychiatrists, medical doctors, nurses, and social workers to provide comprehensive care. You'll use your clinical expertise to conduct assessments and design therapeutic interventions that address the functional barriers caused by mental illness. Your work will directly support patients in developing essential skills, including:
Behavioral and Social Skills Training: Empowering patients to navigate social interactions and manage their emotions effectively.
Sensory Modulation: Helping individuals understand and respond to sensory input in a healthy way.
Activities of Daily Living: Providing practical training in life skills to improve independence and self-sufficiency.
