Job description

Infrastructure Engineer
About the Role: We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to support a mid-to-large enterprise client across education, healthcare, enterprise, and service provider environments. This role centers on VMware virtualization and enterprise storage upgrade projects, blended with hands-on troubleshooting and customer-facing engagements - including discovery sessions, solution reviews, technical workshops, and sales support conversations. The ideal candidate has deep, current expertise in vSphere/ESXi environments and SAN/NAS storage refreshes, and is equally comfortable leading a storage migration in the data center as presenting a solution roadmap to a client stakeholder.
What You'll Do
  • Lead VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter design, deployment, and upgrade projects, including version upgrades, cluster builds, and environment modernization
  • Plan and execute enterprise storage upgrades and migrations (SAN/NAS), including capacity planning, platform refreshes, and data migration between storage tiers/vendors
  • Manage workload migrations and HA/DRS configuration across virtualized environments
  • Design, deploy, and troubleshoot enterprise networking environments (routing, switching, WAN/LAN)
  • Lead WLAN design and wireless deployments, including RF site surveys and analysis
  • Configure and support firewall/VPN solutions across multiple vendor platforms
  • Perform advanced network troubleshooting using packet capture and protocol analysis tools
  • Administer and support Microsoft infrastructure (Windows Server, AD, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Certificate Services)
  • Lead Microsoft 365 and cloud initiatives, including migrations and identity/security configuration
  • Design and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Partner directly with clients on discovery calls, solution design sessions, technical workshops, and sales support conversations - particularly around virtualization and storage upgrade roadmaps

Must-Have Qualifications
Data Center, Virtualization & Storage (Primary Focus)
  • Strong, hands-on VMware vSphere/ESXi and vCenter administration, including version upgrade planning and execution
  • Proven experience leading enterprise storage upgrade or migration projects (SAN/NAS) - platforms such as HPE Alletra, Nimble, NetApp, Dell EMC, Synology, or similar
  • Cluster design, workload migrations, and HA/DRS configuration
  • Nutanix AHV and/or Hyper-V experience a plus

Networking
  • Enterprise routing/switching: TCP/IP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, Carrier Ethernet
  • WAN/LAN architecture design and implementation
  • WLAN design and deployment experience, including RF analysis tools and platforms such as Aruba, Extreme, or Cisco
  • Firewall/VPN experience with Fortinet, SonicWall, and/or Juniper
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills, including packet capture/trace analysis and protocol analyzers

Microsoft Infrastructure & Cloud
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, Certificate Services
  • Microsoft 365 migrations, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online
  • Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Microsoft Defender

Backup & DR
  • Veeam and/or Microsoft 365 Backup
  • Disaster recovery and business continuity planning

Communication
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, with experience running discovery calls, solution design sessions, and presentations - especially explaining storage and virtualization upgrade options to non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • VMware-to-Nutanix migration experience
  • Storage assessment/health check and capacity planning experience
  • Carrier-grade/service provider infrastructure experience
  • Azure hybrid cloud integration and identity synchronization
  • Mentoring, team leadership, or training development background
  • Cross-functional project leadership experience
