Job description

The Pittsburgh Paints Company is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Operator – Paint Processor to support production processes including dispersion, thindown, quality evaluation, and batch adjustments. This role is responsible for safely producing batches according to specifications, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring product quality standards are met. The ideal candidate has prior manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

You will work onsite at the East Point, Georgia Plant on a 1ST SHIFT- 5 AM- 3:30 PM Monday through Thursday, working mandatory overtime during peak season, which is March- August, then occasional overtime as needed.

Starting rate is $24.00 hourly for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Add raw materials in correct quantities and order to mixer
  • Operates mixing equipment as designated by production slip, adhering to mix times, temperature, and grinding requirements
  • Records batch data in paint processing log (temperature, horsepower rate, blade level, etc.)
  • Monitors batch to ensure conformance to processing requirements
  • Labels thindown tank top and bottom with production tags and ensures proper valve positioning on all equipment
  • Adds materials (latex, water, solvents, thickener, etc.) to batch in precise weights and quantities, either automatically or manually
  • Add colorants to batch to shade
  • Performs quality testing as designated on the QC template
  • Adjusts batch properties (tint, strength, viscosity, etc.) either automatically or by adding materials in quantities designated by testing
  • Interfaces with computer programs to complete the batch ticket cycle process

Required Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use computer programs (including SAP) and analyze data
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and accurately record progress and procedures
  • Ability to differentiate between shades and colors of products
  • Ability to perform product changeovers, minor operational troubleshooting, and equipment adjustments
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to take ownership of area of responsibility
  • Must have ability to complete required safety training

Ability to climb ladders and stairs

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and move over, under, and around production equipment
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting hoses, manipulating valves, operating and adjusting equipment, stacking pallets, and carrying materials
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and up to 80 lbs. occasionally
  • Manufacturing equipment

  • Strainer systems, pumps, and holding vessels

  • Required to wear protective gear including gloves, safety glasses, steel toe footwear, and other PPE as required
