Position Title:

Hourly YouthCity Program Instructor I - Hourly

Job Description:

Salt Lake City is looking for Hourly YouthCity Program Instructor's to provide supervision for elementary and middle school age school-age youth and the implementation of YouthCity program goals.

This position will support ourYouthCityAfterschool Program which willoperatethroughthe 2026-2027 school year. Once hired staff may select to continue employment for the 2027YouthCitysummer program.

About the Position:

This role requires teaching in an out-of-school-time setting, program implementation, communication with program staff, datacollectionand developing strategies to meet and exceed all organizational goals andobjectives.

The ideal candidate will have a High School graduate or equivalent and be at least 18 years of age. Experience working with school-aged childrenand middle school age teens,and/or other related experience is preferred.

About the Team:

We are hiring staff to work atallYouthCitylocations.Teams of Instructors report to a full-time Senior Community Programs Manager who oversees each location.

Work Schedule:

This position willwork25 hours a week. During the school year, the work hours are Monday - Thursday from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Friday from Noon - 6:00p.m.During the Summer Program, this position will work5-hourblocks Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. depending on program necessity.

Position Wage:$18.00/hr.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision toprogram participantsin program activities.

  • Maintain attendance records as required by program.Assistwith program's grant required assessments to ensure program quality metrics are met.

  • Develop and plan weekly activities based on learningobjectivesas outlined byYouthCityprograms. Teach group activities and participate in all activities withprogram participants.

  • Follow program procedures to safeguard health, safety, and well-being of participants.

  • Prepare, clean up, andmaintainfacility daily.

  • Assistin providing daily snacks.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and training sessions as scheduled. Participate in one-on-one professional development meetings with Senior Community Program Managers.

  • Provide a safe/healthy environment for program participants.

  • Perform all other duties requested.

  • Report daily to Senior Community Programs Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent and at least 18 years of age.

  • Experience in working with school-agedchildren, middle schoolyouthand/or other related experience.

  • Ability todemonstrategroup management skills and techniques.

  • Ability to work with a diverse population, including both youth and adults.

  • Ability to resolve conflict situations.

  • Ability to work with both youth and adults in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bilingual.

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate physical activity. Required to push, pull, or lift medium weights. Uncomfortable working positions such as stooping, crouching, and bending. May have a few disagreeable elements such as exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

  • Exposure to stressas a result ofhuman behavior.

  • Will berequiredto work on evenings and weekends.
