What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an hourly C2C data analyst?

To thrive as an Hourly C2C Data Analyst, you need strong analytical abilities, proficiency in data modeling, and a relevant degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, or computer science. Familiarity with technical tools like SQL, Python, Excel, and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau or Power BI) is typically required, and certifications such as Google Data Analytics or Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate can be advantageous. Attention to detail, problem-solving, and effective communication skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These skills are crucial for accurately interpreting data, delivering actionable insights, and supporting business decisions in contract-based environments.

What is an hourly C2C data analyst?

An Hourly C2C Data Analyst is a data professional who works on a contract basis, typically through a corporation-to-corporation (C2C) arrangement, and is paid hourly. In this role, the analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data to help organizations make informed decisions. Since the position is C2C, the analyst is usually engaged as an independent consultant or through a consulting company, rather than as a direct employee. The hourly aspect offers flexibility for both the analyst and the client, making it suitable for project-based or short-term assignments.

What are some common challenges faced by an hourly C2C data analyst and how can they be managed?

Hourly C2C Data Analysts often work on short-term projects with tight deadlines, which can make it challenging to fully understand complex data sets or business requirements quickly. Additionally, since they are contractors, integration with in-house teams and access to internal systems may sometimes be limited. To manage these challenges, it's important to communicate proactively with stakeholders, clarify expectations early on, and leverage documentation or knowledge bases provided by the client. Building strong relationships with team members and being adaptable to changing project needs can also help ensure success in this dynamic role.

Job description

Company Profile
At Sand Cherry Associates, we excel in the design and delivery of strategic customer-centric initiatives through digitally native, data-empowered solutions. Our client's confidence in us is centered on exceptionally skilled, high-energy talent working with the support of the full Sand Cherry team. Finding the right match for this role is a critical aspect of continuing that success.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst who will leverage advanced, non-machine-learning analytical techniques to investigate business questions, uncover meaningful insights, and translate complex data into actionable recommendations that improve customer reliability and video product performance. The Data Analyst will partner closely with management, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to transform business questions into clearly defined analytical problems, explore and analyze data, and communicate findings in a way that supports strategic and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-directed analyst with strong expertise in SQL, Excel, and Tableau, along with experience using Alteryx for data preparation and transformation. This individual should be equally comfortable working with complex datasets, developing executive-facing dashboards, and presenting findings and recommendations to senior technical and non-technical audiences. This position requires 4 days per week onsite in Denver, CO. Only candidates currently located in the Denver metropolitan area will be considered. All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. We are unable to work with C2C arrangements for this opportunity.
Duties & Responsibilities
โ€ข Partner with management and key stakeholders to transform ambiguous business questions into clearly defined, well-scoped, and actionable analytical problem statements.
โ€ข Take ownership of critical analytical projects from initial problem definition through analysis, recommendations, and delivery of actionable insights.
โ€ข Explore complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, performance issues, and opportunities that can influence business strategy and improve customer and product reliability.
โ€ข Apply appropriate statistical and analytical techniques to investigate well-defined business questions and support data-driven decision-making.
โ€ข Develop ETL workflows using Alteryx and/or SQL to extract, transform, clean, validate, and join data from multiple sources into analysis-ready datasets.
โ€ข Perform complex data analysis using SQL and Excel, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and integrity throughout the analytical process.
โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain Tableau dashboards and reports that track key performance indicators, reliability metrics, trends, and overall business performance.
โ€ข Develop reporting and visualizations that enable executive stakeholders to quickly understand performance and identify areas requiring attention.
โ€ข Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives supported by effective charts, figures, tables, and data visualizations.
โ€ข Develop polished, executive-ready PowerPoint presentations with a strong emphasis on clarity, readability, and effective storytelling.
โ€ข Present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior-level technical and non-technical audiences, adapting communication to the audience and organizational environment.
โ€ข Leverage knowledge of the cable, telecommunications, and/or video industry to quickly understand business issues, operational challenges, and data context.
โ€ข Collaborate cross-functionally with business, technical, product, and operational teams to ensure analyses address the right questions and lead to measurable outcomes.
Requirements
โ€ข 5+ years of professional data analysis experience, preferably within reliability, operations, telecommunications, cable, video, or a related environment.
โ€ข Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with SQL, Excel, and Tableau is required.
โ€ข Experience with Alteryx is highly desirable, particularly for developing repeatable ETL and data-preparation workflows.
โ€ข Experience within the cable/telecommunications industry is highly desirable.
โ€ข Strong understanding of data transformation, cleansing, validation, joining, and analysis across multiple data sources.
โ€ข Solid foundation in statistics with the ability to select and apply appropriate analytical techniques to business problems.
โ€ข Proven ability to independently analyze complex datasets and distill findings into clear, actionable business insights and recommendations.
โ€ข Experience developing and maintaining Tableau dashboards, KPI reporting, and executive-level data visualizations.
โ€ข Strong PowerPoint skills with experience developing polished presentations that communicate analytical findings effectively.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to present complex information to senior leadership.
โ€ข Strong stakeholder-management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
โ€ข Highly detail-oriented, data-driven, and intellectually curious, with strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
โ€ข Self-starter with demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects, work independently, and drive analyses from conception through recommendation.
Education
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field required; Master's degree preferred.
