This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
Availability for a commitment of to up to 20 hours per week.

Job Description:
The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.
As an Evaluation Intern at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for the dissemination of health communication materials and program metric coordination. In your new role you will be responsible for the following:
  • Assisting with coordinating and tracking programmatic metrics across the COE, including presentations that result from evaluation data.
  • Coordinating data visualization needs with the others in COE and the Biostatistics & Computational Biology Shared Resource.
  • Preparing data for dissemination and communication materials and reports and coordinating project deliverables with UFHCI communications, marketing, and other units.
  • Supporting survey development and management as well as contributing to basic report writing.

This internship is ideal for candidates with an interest in exploring a career in applied data assessment and program evaluation, as well as learning more about public health and community participative research. A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.
Expected Salary:
$15.00 hourly
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in public health, health education, health communication, epidemiology, or other related field.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of APA or AMA formatting.
  • A basic understanding of statistics.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including proofreading.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:
Knowledge/Experience:
  • Student pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in public health, health education, health communication, epidemiology, or other related field.
  • Some experience with or familiarity/knowledge of social/behavioral and/or clinical research, including commonly employed methodologies.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and utilizing secondary data sources in research.

Qualities:
  • Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to maintain appropriate discretion and operate independently on assigned projects.
  • Strong desire to learn, seek out, and apply new knowledge, methods, and information.
  • Desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and critical staff.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Exposure to and basics skills in using survey software solutions (e.g. Qualtrics and REDCap).
  • Basic understanding of or ability/willingness to learn about secondary data sources related to cancer statistics, population demographic, and social/behavioral risk factors.
