CDL A Hotshot Driver

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dependable Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) A Hotshot Driver to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for delivering time-sensitive loads using personal vehicles and other authorized commercial vehicles, ensuring prompt and safe deliveries across various routes. Your expertise in commercial driving, adherence to traffic regulations, and excellent customer service skills will contribute to our success.

Duties

  • Safely operate personal vehicles and other authorized commercial vehicles to deliver goods efficiently across designated routes.
  • Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment while following safe lifting practices.
  • Properly secure freight and verify that loads are safely distributed before transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable DOT regulations, traffic laws, weight requirements, and transportation safety standards.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and safety checks to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and safe for operation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch using mobile devices to confirm delivery details, provide status updates, and promptly report any delays or issues.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by representing the company professionally during deliveries and addressing customer inquiries courteously.
  • Adhere to warehouse operating procedures when handling materials, moving goods within facilities, or assisting with warehouse tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including bills of lading, delivery confirmations, and other required records.
  • Manage assigned routes efficiently while meeting scheduled pickup and delivery times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle and work environment.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, courier services, hotshot trucking, or time-sensitive freight transportation.
  • Valid CDL Class A required.
  • Proven experience with hotshot trucking, personal vehicle delivery, or time-sensitive freight transportation is highly desirable.
  • Warehouse experience, including the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles and proper manual-handling techniques for heavy lifting and loading tasks.
  • Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations, weight requirements, load securement, workplace safety standards, and safe lifting practices.
  • Strong understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving, and transportation safety procedures.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload freight while meeting delivery schedules.
  • Clean driving record and satisfactory background check required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.
  • Strong communication, professionalism, reliability, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage routes efficiently, and provide dependable service in a fast-paced delivery environment.
