Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Restaurant Server Assistant at Hemingway's Cuba is responsible for providing guests with courteous, friendly, sincere, efficient, and graceful table service that meets or exceeds guest expectations. This position prepares for a meal period, serves as an assistant to the servers, and contributes to the overall success of a well-run restaurant operation. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Readies the dining room for service with sidework to have all necessary supplies on hand.
  • Continuously cleans both the front and back of the house throughout the shift whenever possible.
  • Expedites the table delivery of guest selections to ensure a high-quality dining experience.
  • Has thorough knowledge of the menu for professional explanations to guest inquiries.
  • Clears and resets tables expeditiously so we may accommodate our next dining guests.
  • Follow all safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others to reach common goals.  Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant setting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • An understanding that weekends and holidays are our busiest business periods.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50lbs and working on feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Must attend all required trainings and department meetings.
