Job description

Position Summary

The Architect is responsible for leading the planning, design, and architectural execution of new hotel developments, property renovations, adaptive reuse projects, and capital improvement initiatives across the Shamin Hotels portfolio. This position partners closely with Development, Operations, Construction, Revenue Management, Brand representatives, and Ownership to create exceptional hospitality spaces that maximize guest experience, operational efficiency, and long-term asset value.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with creativity, project leadership, and an understanding of hospitality design standards.


Essential ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Design
  • Lead the architectural design process from concept through construction administration.
  • Prepare and review architectural drawings, specifications, renderings, and design documents.
  • Develop site plans, floor plans, elevations, and building layouts.
  • Ensure designs align with Shamin Hotels' quality standards and long-term strategic vision.
  • Maintain consistency with Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and IHG brand standards.
Project Management
  • Manage multiple development and renovation projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders throughout each phase of development.
  • Participate in owner meetings, design reviews, and project status updates.
  • Assist with entitlement, permitting, and municipal approval processes.
Construction Administration
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure design intent is maintained.
  • Resolve field issues and coordinate architectural revisions.
  • Review Requests for Information (RFIs) and Change Orders.
  • Assist in project closeout and final inspections.
Brand & Design Compliance
  • Interpret and implement franchise design standards for:
    • Hilton
    • Marriott
    • Hyatt
    • IHG
  • Coordinate design approvals with brand representatives.
  • Ensure ADA, life safety, building code, and accessibility compliance.
  • Stay current on evolving hospitality design trends and brand requirements.
Collaboration

  • Provide architectural recommendations for ROI-driven improvements.

QualificationsEducation

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

Licensure

Licensed Architect (preferred).

NCARB Certification preferred.

Experience
  • 5-10 years of architectural experience.
  • Hospitality, commercial, or mixed-use project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with hotel renovations and new construction preferred.
  • Familiarity with franchise hotel brand standards.

Approximately 30-50% travel throughout Shamin Hotels' portfolio to support development, renovations, property evaluations, and construction oversight.
