Job Overview:

Our nursing team operates in collaborative settings alongside strong interdisciplinary groups, emphasizing a patient-centered care approach within a diverse work environment. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse applies evidence-based practices in line with the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and directives from the medical staff. Utilizing their expertise, the registered nurse formulates a care plan that addresses the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of both patients and their families.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
    • Experience: At least one (1) year of experience or successful completion of the Nurse Residency Program at Backus Hospital.
    • License and Certification: Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in good standing in Connecticut. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire. Must be able to obtain and maintain department-specific certifications.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
    • Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience in the relevant clinical area.
    • License and Certification: Certification in the clinical specialty area. CNOR certification is a plus.
