Hospice Pharmacy TechnicianSchedule: Monday - Friday; 8a - 5p

Location Martinsville, VA

Looking for something more meaningful than retail pharmacy?

At Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, you'll use your pharmacy knowledge to make a direct impact on patients and families facing serious illness. This unique role combines pharmacy coordination, problem-solving, patient support, and administrative responsibilities in a collaborative healthcare environment.

As a Hospice Pharmacy Technician, you'll be a vital resource for our nurses, pharmacies, patients, and families—helping ensure medications are obtained quickly, questions are answered promptly, and patient care continues without interruption.

If you enjoy staying organized, helping others, solving problems, and working as part of a compassionate healthcare team, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Triage medication-related requests from nurses and clinical staff.
  • Coordinate prescription refills, new prescriptions, and medication changes.
  • Communicate with pharmacies to ensure timely access to medications.
  • Process prior authorizations and follow up on medication approvals.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient and prescription information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Help resolve urgent medication issues and coordinate solutions.
  • Conduct medication audits, inventory reconciliation, and follow-up on discrepancies as needed.
  • Support quality assurance activities related to medication management and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active North Carolina Pharmacy Technician certification/registration.
  • At least two years of Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Why This Role Is Different

This is not a retail pharmacy position. You'll work alongside a dedicated healthcare team, helping support patients throughout their hospice and palliative care journey. Every prescription you coordinate, every problem you solve, and every call you triage helps ensure patients receive the care and comfort they deserve.
