Program Description:

This role will be supporting the U.S. Fleet Forces Command (USFF) Headquarters (HQ) at USFF Norfolk, Virginia at a Government facility/site. As a member of their USFF Communications and Information Systems Division (N6) Support Team, you will signi๏ฌcantly contribute to Navy Fleet Readiness and Homeland Security. The team is involved in information technology (IT) support tasks including but are not limited to Program Management support, Network Engineering support, Maritime Operations Center/Tactical Systems support, Video Teleconferencing and Audio/Visual support, Portal Management and Application Development support, Staff IT Business Process/IT Services support, Information Assurance (IA)/Certification and Accreditation support, Database Administration support, Communications Security/EKMS support, and general IT support, as well as maintenance, updating and enhancement of developed application/software.

Job Responsibilities:
  • The engineer shall provide IT engineering and technical services and support for a broad assortment of system engineering and support functions. The engineer shall provide direct support services for overall and complete operation and maintenance of the Headquarters SECRET, NATO, Coalition and UNCLASSIFIED networks and associated hardware and software
  • Work alongside customers to design, plan, implement, upgrade, and maintain new data center technologies in the areas of storage, virtualization and network engineering with a focus on NetApp, VMware, Citrix and Cisco Data Center and Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) Technologies.
  • Proactively maintain Citrix, NetApp and VMware vSphere and Horizon platforms in use supporting the USFF Data Center.
  • Quickly and effectively identify, troubleshoot and communicate hardware and software technical problems for a wide range of customers.
  • Ensure solution is implemented as designed to the customerโ€™s satisfaction and approval
  • Design, build, deploy and manage linked-clone image technology on VMware/Horizon View platform (VDI).
  • Create high quality content deliverables which include Design, As-Built, Connectivity and other high level and or detailed documentation.
  • Assist in the development of technology roadmaps to meet and anticipate client needs
  • Participate in the development and implementation of VMware and VDI related operational procedures and define the standards for virtual desktops from the infrastructure platform design to imaging and delivery to customers.
  • Maintain the system, network, and application security integrity including maintaining and updating the C&A packages and maintaining compliance with current Information Assurance policies.
  • Apply Defense in Depth methodologies to the hardening to all associated networks and systems.
  • Provide 24x7 on-call technical support as related to operational support of USFF
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical degree or an Associate Degree in Computer Science/Engineering with additional 2 years of experience.
  • Six yearsโ€™ experience managing data center technologies including planning, development, implementation and support vSphere, VMware virtual switching, vMotion, and HA, Horizon View, Citrix Storefront/Xenapp and NetApp platforms.
  • Experience with troubleshooting NetApp storage and Cisco Data Center Technologies (MDS, UCS, Nexus).
  • IAT II Certification (Typically CompTIA SEC+)
  • A minimum of one of the following certifications with emphasis on the platform or system being supported. Candidates must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of hire:
    • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP).
    • NetApp NCIE-SAN
    • Cisco CCNP Data Center
