Job description

Doggy Daycare Lead — Now Hiring

Are you a natural leader who loves working with dogs and is ready to take the next step in your career? If you look at a yard full of happy pups and think, "I want to lead this team," then read on! This is the ulti-mutt opportunity you’ve been looking for.

Bay Paws Pet Resort is looking for a Doggy Daycare Lead to become the ultimate "go-to" person for our daycare department. This is a vital middle-management role meant for a serious professional who thrives on mentoring a team, keeping playgroups safe, and ensuring our resort remains the funnest place to work.

Why Bay Paws is a Great Place to Work

At Bay Paws, we genuinely put the "PET in hosPETality." We operate under a supportive "inverted pyramid" leadership structure. This means management’s primary job is to support you, providing the resources and industry education you need so you can empower your team of Pet Care Attendants. We value integrity, safety, open communication, and creative problem-solving—while making sure we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Key Responsibilities

As our Daycare Lead, you are the leader of the pack, balancing hands-on dog care with administrative and team leadership:

  • Support and Coach the Team: Guide and train Pet Care Attendants, giving honest feedback and helping them reach their own professional goals.
  • Evaluate and Custom-Fit Care: Conduct temperament evaluations for new dogs. You will use your behavioral expertise to determine if a pet is best suited for large pack play, our specialized Enrichment Program, or a custom mix of both.
  • Manage Group Dynamics: Monitor playgroups, manage complex behaviors, and make real-time decisions to ensure a safe, balanced, and fun environment.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with our Boarding, Front Desk, and Enrichment Leads to keep the resort running seamlessly as one unified team.
  • Enforce Cleanliness: Keep our facility pristine by holding the team accountable to our high sanitization and safety standards.
The Perks (Because You’re Worth It)

We believe in taking care of the people who take care of our pet guests. Here is a look at what we offer:

  • Paid Time Off (PTO) and holiday pay/incentives
  • Free pet boarding so your own dog can enjoy a vacation while you work
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental wellness support
  • Generous employee discounts on retail and services
  • Flexible scheduling and on-the-job training
  • Real opportunities for advancement within the company
  • Employee of the Month program featuring cash prizes
  • Free snacks in the breakroom to keep your human battery charged
  • Referral program cash bonuses for bringing talent to our team
Who We Are Looking For
  • You have solid, proven experience working in a dog daycare, boarding facility, or veterinary environment.
  • You speak fluent "dog" and have a deep understanding of canine body language and pack dynamics.
  • You possess previous supervisory or team lead experience (or are a senior attendant ready to step up).
  • You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and can maintain a calm, confident presence in a fast-paced environment.
  • You enjoy thinking outside the box to solve daily operational challenges.

If you are ready to move out of a standard entry-level role and truly lead a department, we would love to meet you.
