This position participates in Honda Development & Manufacturing of America’s (HDMA) Engineering Development Program (EDP), a structured development experience for entry-level engineers.
What is Honda’s Engineering Development Program?
The Engineering Development Program is a one-year rotational program designed to accelerate the development of early-career engineers. Through rotational assignments, mentorship, project work, and exposure to multiple areas of Honda’s business, participants will gain broad technical knowledge and business understanding while developing a strong internal network.
EDP participants work as full-time Honda associates and complete meaningful engineering work while exploring multiple functions aligned to a final role. Upon completion of the program, associates return to their final role with expanded technical capabilities, strong cross-functional relationships, and a deeper understanding of how their work connects to Honda’s broader operations.

Manufacturing Engineering – (Available in Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, and Ohio)
Manufacturing Engineers support daily production and future model activity by improving manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and operational stability. Associates in these roles use technical problem solving, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and efficiency across production areas.

These roles support business plan and new model projects from concept development through completed design and ensure solutions meet technical, production, and quality requirements across HDMA’s North American manufacturing facilities.
Supplier Quality Engineering – (Available in Alabama, Indiana, and Ohio)
Supplier Quality Engineers work with suppliers, purchasing, and manufacturing teams to support part quality, supplier readiness, and production stability. These roles help identify quality issues, establish containment, develop countermeasures, and support supplier performance for mass production and new model activity.
Product and Testing Engineering – (Available in Alabama, Indiana, and Ohio)
Product and Testing Engineers collaborate with manufacturing departments, support departments, suppliers, and research and development teams to identify root causes, build consensus, and implement countermeasures. In some areas, Product Engineers also support vehicle testing during new model trial stages to confirm that design intent is achieved in actual vehicle performance.
Market Quality Engineering – (Available in Ohio)
Market Quality Engineers analyze customer, manufacturing, and field information to identify trends, investigate concerns, and support countermeasure activity. These roles connect market feedback with technical investigation, product understanding, and cross-functional problem solving to improve customer satisfaction and Honda quality performance.
Design Engineering – (Available in Ohio)
Design Engineers support product, system, and component development through feasibility evaluation, design analysis, material selection, and prototyping. Associates in these roles contribute to development activities that support new products, vehicle systems, and future technology.
Facilities Engineering – (Available in Alabama, Indiana, and Ohio)
Facilities Engineers support infrastructure, equipment, and site project activity that enables manufacturing operations and future business needs. These roles coordinate technical planning, project execution, contractors, and cross-functional communication to improve reliability, safety, and facility readiness.
New Model Engineering – (Available in Ohio)
New Model Engineers support the development, verification, and implementation of production tools, processes, equipment, and standards for future models. These roles connect design requirements, production capability, and manufacturing readiness to support successful new model and business plan execution.
Qualifications:
We are looking for qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds, open minds, strong technical foundations, and a disciplined work ethic. To bring the future to Honda as an associate within the Engineering Development Program, candidates must have the following qualifications and knowledge/skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET or ATMAE accredited program
  • Primary Majors:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering Technology
    • Industrial Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering Technology
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Additional engineering majors will also be considered due to the listing covering all roles within the Engineering Development Program.
  • 3 months of relevant co-op or internship experience preferred
  • Less than 2 years of engineering work experience

EDP associates should be willing to learn across functions, adapt to new environments, build relationships, and contribute to Honda’s manufacturing and business priorities.
