Job Description
Tutor
Status: Part Time (School Year); Full Time (School Vacation and Summer)
Reports To: Site Coordinator
Pay Level:
Salary/ varies on experience
Greenwood Shalom is a faith-based, academically focused program serving children in Boston.
General Function: An assistant educator will represent the Greenwood personally and professionally in accordance with the mission and goals of the Greenwood Shalom under the direction of the site coordinator. He/she will assist the educator in implementing program activities for children, that provide for spiritual, social, academic and emotional growth and will adhere to the policies and regulations set forth by Greenwood Shalom Tutoring Zone Program and Early Education and Care (EEC). Safety and the overall welfare of the children, families, and communities are of primary importance.
Job Criteria:
Middle School, High School student with good grades or High School diploma with previous experience
Individual should like children and have ability to work with and understand the needs of children. Have a commitment to working with children from a variety of backgrounds.
Must be a positive role model and can maintain a motivational, energetic attitude while conducting activities.
Required: CORI and DFC check and Fingerprint, A current physical with updated immunizations

Responsibilities:
Assist the educator.
Emphasize personal safety and wellbeing with children, parents and staff always.
Uses positive and effective methods of behavior management that stress teaching, not punishment.
Develop a positive rapport and communication with children, and staff.
Assist in keeping daily attendance record for assigned group. Frequently takes head counts.
Attends monthly staff meetings and trainings as required by the Greenwood Shalom and EEC dependent upon student school schedule.
Reports all accidents immediately, and assists with necessary documentation.
Assist in implementing activities that foster creativity, and cultural and academic awareness.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
