Eagle Ridge Academy is a Tuition-Free Classical, College-Preparatory Charter School serving students and families in grades K-12. Eagle Ridge offers an academically rigorous education that uses a time-tested, Classical, liberal arts curriculum.
Seeking a Long-Term Substitute beginning late September. Position will be approximately 12 weeks.
Classical Enrichment Teacher
The Classical Enrichment teacher will conduct oracy lessons aimed at equipping scholars to become effective and eloquent speakers and improve active listening comprehension skills. Drawing upon progymnasmata exercises as the basis for instruction, the Classical Enrichment teacher will use content domains from the Core Knowledge sequence to integrate learning in a way that aligns to Classical pedagogy, developing copia in both written and oral language. Additionally, the teacher will use high quality texts that cultivate virtuous citizens while empowering scholars to find their voice through oral expression.

Eagle Ridge Academy seeks a well-spoken individual with a gift for teaching who is passionate about the mission, philosophy, and pedagogy of Eagle Ridge Academy. Qualified applicants will have the ability to develop positive rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. They will have knowledge of particular learning styles along with the skill to meet the academic, social, and emotional growth needs of elementary-aged children.
Responsibilities:
  • Designs lessons focused on measurable content truths aligned to the curriculum map.
  • Instruct students in the Eagle Ridge Academy pillars of character and ensure that they follow them
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • Plan formative and summative assessments which are linked to standards associated with the course to measure student learning and uses data to drive instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Implements instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
  • Maintains effective and efficient record keeping procedures
  • Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests and assignments
  • Plan and collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver lessons align to the oracy needs of scholars and topics covered in the grade-level.
  • Ensure ongoing quality and delivery of our Classical curriculum
  • Foster the continuous pursuit of Classical education learning among stakeholders
  • Provide supplemental lessons with a language arts focus, as requested by teachers, to enrich current units of study
  • Collaborate with the Library Teacher Assistant to enhance children's experience of literature in both spaces
  • Support teachers in the implementation of literacy curriculum by creating key alignment documents and providing instructional support that align to Classical enrichment curriculum

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Desire to teach using the classical education model.
MN Teaching Licensure in Social Studies
Salary Range: $41,273 - $78,100
