Position: Homework Assistant
Location: 13301 41st Rd. Flushing, NY 11355
Salary Range: $17hr
Hours: 10 hours per week
Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary
Homework Assistants provide academic support to Boys' Club members from 1st-7th grade, ensuring that members complete their homework and use good study skills. Homework Assistants oversee a relatively constant group of kids on a day-to-day basis; Homework Assistants will build relationships with all members, families and staff.
Responsibilities
  • Manage group of approximately 10 boys at a time during Homework Help sessions.
  • Provide academic support in English Language Arts, Math, and other subjects for students in 1st-7th.
  • Observe and track member's progress and attendance logs, incentive systems, etc.
  • Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules.
  • Report any problems, member incidents and concerns to Education Program Coordinator or Director.
  • Attends required department meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications
Currently enrolled in college or currently has Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, preferably with relevant coursework; At least 2 years of experience supervising young people at a school, agency, camp, etc.; Comfort with students and all content areas at the elementary and/or middle school level; Experience managing medium to large groups of children strongly preferred, ability to do so required; Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to address the varying needs of the boys in our program.
