Job description

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking a motivated CMT Project Manager to join our growing team in our Norcross, GA office (Atlanta metro area). This role is ideal for an experienced Project Manager, Project Engineer, or Senior Inspector who is ready to take the next step into a leadership position overseeing Construction Materials Testing (CMT), Special Inspections, and Geotechnical Engineering projects.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong technical experience in construction testing and inspections, leadership capabilities, and a desire to grow their project management and client management skills.
Responsibilities:
As a CMT Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing projects from proposal through completion while serving as a technical resource for clients and field staff. Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing and coordinating Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, and Geotechnical Engineering projects.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships through effective communication and technical consultation.
  • Preparing proposals, budgets, scopes of work, and project deliverables.
  • Reviewing and managing field, laboratory, and geotechnical reports for accuracy and quality.
  • Providing mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to inspectors, technicians, and junior staff.
  • Coordinating project schedules, personnel, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Performing engineering evaluations, data analysis, and report reviews for commercial, industrial, transportation, governmental, retail, and residential projects.
  • Supporting business development efforts and identifying opportunities for growth with existing and prospective clients.
  • Performing occasional field inspections and site visits as needed to support project execution.

Preferred Qualifications:
NOVA welcomes candidates from a variety of construction, engineering, and inspection backgrounds, including experienced Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and Senior ICC-certified inspectors seeking to transition into project management.
Qualified candidates should possess one or more of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing (CMT), Special Inspections, Geotechnical Engineering, or related construction services.
  • Demonstrated project coordination, leadership, supervisory, or project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials testing, special inspections, and applicable building codes.
  • Multiple ICC Special Inspector certifications highly desired.
  • Previous experience serving as a Senior Inspector, Lead Inspector, Project Engineer, Construction Manager, or similar leadership role.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship skills.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
