Job description

Mayvin is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor to support the United States Coast Guard's (USCG) emergency medical training program at the Training Center Petaluma. The ideal candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality instruction in basic emergency medical care, patient assessment, and the safe transportation of critical and emergent patients in accordance with national EMS standards and Coast Guard requirements. This position is critical to ensuring Coast Guard personnel are prepared to provide effective pre-hospital medical care in both operational and shore-based environments. The ideal candidate is an experienced EMS professional and educator with strong classroom leadership, hands-on training expertise, and a commitment to developing competent, confident emergency responders capable of performing under demanding conditions.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must undergo and pass a background investigation.
Hourly Rate: $26.99, Health & Welfare $5.09
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver classroom and practical instruction in accordance with approved EMT curriculum and Coast Guard training standards
  • Assess student knowledge levels and adapt instructional techniques to maximize learning outcomes
  • Facilitate hands-on exercises, demonstrations, and scenario-based training
  • Evaluate student performance through written examinations, practical assessments, and classroom participation
  • Maintain course records, attendance documentation, and training reports as required
  • Manage classroom schedules and ensure training is conducted in accordance with curriculum requirements
  • Ensure adequate training materials, equipment, and supplies are available for instruction
  • Promote safety and adherence to all training protocols during classroom and practical exercises
  • Meet or exceed client-established quality standards for instruction and classroom management
  • Demonstrate professional leadership and effective communication at all times
  • Continuously improve instructional delivery methods and training effectiveness
  • Support program evaluations, audits, and quality improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of field experience as a practicing EMT or Paramedic
  • Minimum 3 years of experience serving as a primary classroom instructor delivering formal training programs
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage adult learning environments and student performance
