VACANCY NOTICE - HOMEBOUND ACADEMIC TUTOR - MAINE TOWNSHIP D207
SUMMARY
The licensed Homebound Academic Tutor provides comprehensive instructional support and supplemental academic coaching across a variety of subjects. The Tutor implements student-centered strategies to promote mastery in diverse content areas, fostering academic engagement and learning accountability. This position collaborates closely with teachers across all departments and the student services team to ensure a supportive, well-structured learning environment that improves learning for all students.

REPORTS TO and EVALUATION
- Director of Student Services
- Principal or designee
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services in accordance with District 207's evaluation procedures and aligned to district priorities.
SUPERVISES
- No direct supervisory responsibilities. May provide coordination or direction to interns, vendors, and student media teams as assigned.
CERTIFICATION and QUALIFICATIONS
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a Substitute teaching license.
- Licensure is mandatory as the tutor has direct supervision of students, is left along with students, and conducts tutoring.
- Demonstrated expertise in a variety of academic subjects to support a diverse student body.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills required.
- Secondary language skills may be required based on students' needs.
- 3-5 years of relevant teaching or instructional experience is preferred.
PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

- Model inclusive and equity-driven instructional practices across all subject areas.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to resolve learning barriers and promote positive outcomes.

- Engage in ongoing professional learning regarding trauma-informed instruction and school safety.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Multi-Subject Instructional Support: Lead and implement Tier 1-3 academic tutoring and interventions across various subjects aligned to the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Framework.
- Academic Engagement: Monitor and promote student participation and learning achievement through proactive strategies and support plans.
- Collaboration: Partner with counselors, social workers, and teachers across departments to develop student success and reintegration plans.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate data and records related to student performance, attendance in tutoring sessions, and interventions.
SKILLS TO SUPPORT THESE RESPONSIBILITIES, including but not limited to
- Exceptional Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively engage with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Technical Proficiency: Intermediate proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adaptability: Open to learning new systems and instructional approaches to support various district initiatives.
- Integrity: Maintain high levels of trustworthiness and strict confidentiality regarding student information.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work Environment: Work may be performed in a school, home, or office like setting. The position involves moderate noise and frequent interaction with students, parents, and the public.
- Physical Requirements: The role requires frequent sitting, with occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. The position may involve lifting and carrying up to 20-25 pounds, such as office supplies or materials. Regular use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment is required.
