Home Watch information

What does a home watch company do?

A home watch company provides regular inspections of residential properties, checking for issues such as water leaks, security breaches, or damage. They often document conditions with reports and photos, and may coordinate repairs or maintenance as needed, ensuring the property remains secure and well-maintained during the owner's absence.

What are some common challenges faced in a home watch role, and how can I prepare for them?

Home Watch professionals often encounter challenges such as identifying subtle signs of property issues, managing multiple properties efficiently, and communicating effectively with absentee homeowners. Being detail-oriented and proactive is essential, as minor issues like leaks or security breaches can quickly escalate if unnoticed. Building strong organizational skills and maintaining clear documentation helps ensure thorough inspections and timely reporting. Additionally, developing a network of trusted contractors can make it easier to address problems quickly and keep clients satisfied.

What are home watch services?

Home Watch services involve regular inspections of unoccupied homes to ensure their security and maintenance. Professionals in this field check for issues such as leaks, pest infestations, electrical problems, and signs of break-ins. They may also handle mail collection, coordinate repairs, and provide reports to homeowners. Home Watch is especially popular among seasonal residents or frequent travelers who want peace of mind while away from their property.

What is the difference between Home Watch vs Property Manager?

AspectHome WatchProperty Manager
Credentials/CertificationsTypically none required, but certifications like Home Watch Association are commonOften requires real estate or property management licenses
Work EnvironmentResidential properties, mainly during owner absenceResidential or commercial properties, ongoing management
Employer & Industry UsageHomeowners, vacation property ownersProperty management companies, landlords
Common Search/Comparison IntentChecking property status during owner's absenceManaging tenant relations, maintenance, and leasing

Home Watch focuses on inspecting and monitoring properties during owners' absence, ensuring safety and security. Property Managers handle comprehensive management tasks, including leasing, maintenance, and tenant relations. While both roles involve property oversight, Home Watch is more about periodic inspections, whereas Property Managers provide ongoing management services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home watch professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Home Watch Professional, you need strong attention to detail, property management knowledge, and often a background in maintenance or security. Familiarity with home automation systems, security monitoring tools, and basic reporting software is typically required, and certifications from organizations like the National Home Watch Association can be beneficial. Trustworthiness, strong communication, and problem-solving skills help build client confidence and ensure timely issue resolution. These skills are crucial for safeguarding clients' properties, preventing problems, and maintaining high standards of service.

Mari's Cleaning Service & Home Watch, LLC
Family-Owned. Employee-Focused. Customer-Driven.

Absolutely. I would make this section warm, genuine, and specific so it doesn't sound like generic “we're a great company” hiring language.
❤️ What Makes Mari’s Different?
We believe a great company starts with great people—and great people deserve to be treated well.

At Mari’s, you're more than an employee or a number on a schedule. You are an important part of our team, and we want you to succeed.

We Understand Life Happens
We know our employees have families, school, appointments, and responsibilities outside of work. Whenever possible, we work with our team to create schedules that fit their lives—not make life harder.
We Listen & Support You
Have a question? Need additional training? Come across something you've never dealt with before? We want you to ask! Our goal isn't to criticize you for not knowing something—it's to help you become better and more confident at what you do.
⭐ Your Hard Work Gets Noticed
We believe employees who consistently provide exceptional service should be recognized for it. We monitor quality, celebrate successes, appreciate our team, and look for ways to reward employees who go above and beyond.
We Invest in You
We provide training, coaching, and the tools you need to do your job well. As you gain experience and demonstrate your abilities, there are opportunities to take on additional responsibility and grow with the company.
We're a Family-Owned Business
Being family-owned means we care about the people who make our business successful. We know your name, we know your work, and we appreciate what you bring to the team.

❤️ We Give Back
Our company believes that business should be about more than making money. We give back to our community and provide complimentary cleanings to people going through difficult circumstances. When you work with Mari’s, you become part of something that makes a difference beyond the homes we clean.

We Take Pride in What We Do
Cleaning is hard work—and we don't pretend otherwise. But there is something incredibly rewarding about walking into a home that needs attention and leaving it clean, fresh, and beautiful.
If you take pride in your work, care about people, and want to work for a company that cares about you, you may have found your home at Mari’s.
