Job description

The Home Study/PRS Supervisor (HSPRS Supervisor) is responsible for supervising up to eight Home Study Case Worker/PRS Case Managers (HSPRS Case Managers) by providing consultation regarding issues that arise during the home study and PRS process for Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) before and during unification with family and/or sponsors. The HSPRS Supervisor is authorized to sign off on home studies and Post Release Services reports.

Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned): 

1. Supervises a team of Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers throughout the assessment process and provides final approval of all home studies and PRS reports before submission into the UAC Portal and other software as deemed appropriate.
2. Ensures that the Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers conduct clinical, comprehensive interviews to assess the sponsor's capacity to care for the child and ensures the coordination of access to recommended services.
3. Ensures that the child's physical, educational, medical and mental health needs is being prioritized by Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers.
4. Ensures that interviews/check-ins with the UAC and Sponsor are being conducted by the Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers as well as ensuring submission of reports in a timely 
manner.
5. Ensures Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers leverage their professional experience, knowledge and clinical expertise to provide psychoeducational sessions to prepare sponsors for the UAC being placed in their home.
6. Ensures that the Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers provides comprehensive and appropriate direct services as outlined in the roles and responsibilities of this position.
7. Ensures that home studies are conducted in compliance with all mandates as required by ORR, including timeliness for communicating with sponsors, and conducting and completing assessments.
8. Provides weekly supervision to the Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers.
9. Facilitates team meetings to discuss best practices, success and barriers to success.
10. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and understanding when supervising Home Study Case Workers/PRS Case Managers from diverse backgrounds and ensures that services are provided with cultural awareness and understanding.

Qualifications Required:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Must have ability to provide trauma-informed assessment, crisis intervention, safety planning, and other activities to support the safety and stabilization of the placement.
2. Prior experience identifying community social services and other resources.
3. Providing Post Release Services working with immigrant populations, or previous work experience and interest working with foreign-born populations.
4. Excellent verbal, written communication skills
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, knowledge of Connections
6. Bilingual in English and Spanish

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Home StudyCase Workers/PRSCaseManagers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education Requirements:
Master's degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social services fields: OR bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of progressive experience that demonstrates supervisory and case management experience.
