THE POSITION Become a Corrections Mail Inspector with the Department of Corrections (DOC) and help keep the mailroom at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Forest running smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you examine incoming and outgoing mail, confirm important details, and make clear decisions that support well organized daily operations. Your work helps staff and inmates receive the information and materials they need to keep the institution functioning at its best.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position focuses on processing incoming and outgoing mail to maintain safe, lawful, and organized operations at SCI Forest. As a Corrections Mail Inspector, you will perform the following duties: Mail Inspection: Inspect publications, packages, and other items to detect and prevent contraband Item Delivery: Retrieve mail and transport admissible items to designated areas throughout the institution Record Maintenance: Respond to inmate requests and maintain logs and records according to regulations Policy Compliance: Stay current with changes to policies, procedures, and guidelines that impact mail processing Issue Review: Identify improper or suspicious items, deny delivery when appropriate, and notify supervision about postal violations Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $41,506.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of clerical experience, including one year in the field of corrections; or Any combination of experience and/or training which provides the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
