Job description

The Design Concept Support Specialist is the principal customer facing liaison. Design Specialists are responsible for guiding customers and distributors through product education, product design, resolving design challenges, and managing ongoing communications. Specialists are also encouraged to identify revenue-generating opportunities by strategic up-selling of 80/20 products. This role bridges the gap between stakeholders, ranging from distributors, sales teams, and end-users to co-create finalized product designs and quotes centered on safety and product performance.

  • Provide design recommendation services via various communication methods (email, phone, Online Chat, Teams, etc.) to support customer design needs.
  • Utilize various design software(s) (AutoCad, SolidWorks, Ideabuilder, etc.) to produce complete and accurate designs utilizing 80/20 materials and products.
  • Contribute and support process improvement projects throughout the organization. This includes testing of design software, consultation & design of inter-company projects (Operations, Sales, Etc).
  • Perform drawing checks on incoming orders (Panel & Miter checks).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficient with Windows based office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information (quote summaries, work instructions, explain CAD drawings) to other employees, customers, and distributors.
  • Ability to apply basic math functions (adding, subtracting, multiplication and division).
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor (e.g. Patient, Respectful Tone, Considerate) when challenging situations occur.
  •  Demonstrates a positive attitude and genuinely enjoys working and interacting with people, especially other employees, customers and distributors.
  • Possesses exceptional listening skills and uses them to drive outstanding customer service to customers and distributors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in a related or supporting field
  • Knowledge of machining (80/20 or similar product types).
  • Two years 80/20 Builds Assembly experience or equivalent experience with assembling 80/20 products.
  • Previous Technical Support, Design, and Quoting experience.
  • Fluent in secondary language.
