Home Based Smalltalk Developer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Home Based Smalltalk Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Home Based Smalltalk Developer, you need strong programming skills in Smalltalk, object-oriented design experience, and a solid background in software development, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with Smalltalk development environments like Pharo or VisualWorks, version control systems (e.g., Git), and remote collaboration tools is typically required. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and clear communication are vital soft skills for effective remote work and teamwork. These competencies ensure high-quality code, efficient project delivery, and seamless collaboration within distributed development teams.

What are some common challenges faced by home-based Smalltalk developers and how can they be addressed?

Home-based Smalltalk developers often face challenges such as staying connected with distributed teams, managing time effectively, and accessing legacy codebases. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication routines with team members, use collaboration tools like version control and chat platforms, and invest time in understanding project documentation and existing code. Regular virtual stand-ups and code reviews can also help maintain alignment and ensure smooth project progress in a remote setting.

What does a Home Based Smalltalk Developer do?

A Home Based Smalltalk Developer specializes in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using the Smalltalk programming language, all while working remotely from home. Their responsibilities typically include writing code, debugging, testing, and collaborating with other team members through online tools. They may also be involved in system analysis, creating user documentation, and ensuring the software meets client requirements. Working from home allows them flexibility, but also requires strong self-discipline and effective communication skills.

What jobs make $3,000 a month without a degree?

Home Based Smalltalk Developers can earn around $3,000 or more per month through freelance projects or contract work, especially with strong programming skills and experience in Smalltalk. Many remote tech roles, such as web developers, virtual assistants, or customer support agents, also offer this income level without requiring a degree, often relying on skills, certifications, or portfolios instead.

Job description

UPS Field Service Engineer II
Atlanta, GA | Home-Based / Field Deployment | Full-Time

Bloom Talent Solutions specializes in connecting high-performing professionals with industry-leading companies. We are proud to present this exclusive opportunity on behalf of a privately owned, high-growth critical power services company based in the Southeast.

This isn't a role for someone looking to coast. It's for a hands-on field engineer who genuinely loves the work — someone who's put in the hours, knows their way around UPS and critical power systems, and is ready to grow in an environment where your performance speaks for itself. If you're tired of corporate layers and want to be somewhere your skills actually matter, keep reading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment start-up, emergency response, and field modifications on UPS systems, batteries, PDUs, and related critical power equipment
  • Conduct on-site testing and commissioning, collaborating with senior engineers on more complex assignments
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with technical support for complex resolutions
  • Complete Field Service Reports accurately and on time
  • Provide proactive recommendations to clients based on field observations
  • Participate in periodic training at company headquarters on testing equipment and system rebuilds
  • Work independently on standard service calls while continuing to develop skills for more advanced assignments

Qualifications

Required

  • 2–10 years of hands-on experience specifically in UPS and critical power systems
  • Genuine field service background — hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (not limited to routine inspections)
  • Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs
  • Strong verbal and written communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and on-call as needed
  • Physically capable of repeated bending and lifting up to 100 lbs
  • Clean driving record

Preferred

  • Experience with major OEM platforms: Eaton, Schneider/APC, Vertiv/Liebert, Mitsubishi, or ABB
  • Background at an independent or third-party UPS service provider
  • Technical degree or equivalent military training
  • Military veterans with electrical/mechanical systems experience are highly encouraged to apply
  • This is a company where growth is earned, not waited for. If you bring the skills, the work ethic, and the drive to build — this role will reward you for it. We'd love to connect.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $75,000 – $92,000 depending on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Vehicle allowance and gas card
  • Home-based position with Atlanta, GA territory
  • Clear performance-based growth path from FSE II to FSE III

How to Apply

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply through Bloom Talent Solutions. Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your UPS/critical power field experience. Qualified candidates will be contacted directly by our recruiting team.
