Job description

Job Summary 

The Project Controls Cost Analyst will be responsible for providing analytics support for a portion of the GPC Distribution Capital Portfolio with the Project Control Cost Supervisor oversight. The analyst will be part of a team responsible for project level cost performance analysis needed to support the Distribution organization, Project Controls team, and GPC Accounting, Finance, and Treasurer organization (AFT). This team will also be responsible for providing project cost review, capital budget analysis and funding solution proposals for specific projects and blanket budgets. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze cost and schedule data to identify risks, variances, and potential issues; develop corrective actions and present recommendations to management.

  • Perform detailed analysis of capital spend and project closures for a business unit within the GPC Distribution organization

  • Support portfolio management of capital programs, including forecasting, change management, risk assessment, and contingency planning

  • Monitor business unit performance against established KPIs within the GPC Distribution Capital Program.

  • Develop and review project budgets using historical data, actual performance, revenue projections, and expense trends to ensure effective financial control

  • Track project performance against baseline budgets and key milestones, identifying variances, and recommending mitigation strategies

  • Conduct Estimate at Completion (EAC) analyses across all cost elements, incorporating commitments, expenditures, change orders, and emerging trends

  • Extract, analyze, and generate standard and ad hoc reports from financial and project accounting systems to support cost tracking and decision-making

  • Collaborate with project controls teams to support change impact analysis and ensure any approved changes are incorporated into cost

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or relevant experience

Experience 

  • 2+ years of experience in cost analysis, project controls, estimating, financial analysis, or construction/project accounting
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle, cost management processes, and budget controls
  • Experience with cost management and reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms) 
  • Understanding of cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control principles
  • Experience supporting capital projects, infrastructure, or large-scale programs preferred
  • Familiarity with large-scale organizational change efforts
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity and apply problem-solving skills
  • Working experience providing data and ensuring data integrity to support accurate and timely reporting
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization
  • Proven ability and determination to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to deliver high quality outcomes

  • Proficient in  Oracle Financials, SOAR, JETS,  PowerBi, and PowerPlan (preferred)
  • Contruent experience is a plus

  • Successful candidate must be available to support storm duty
