As of Jul 5, 2026, the average hourly pay for home based photo inspector in Silver Spring, MD is $23.19, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.65 and $25.34 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How to become a field inspector taking pictures of homes?

To become a home-based photo inspector, you typically need a good camera, basic photography skills, and knowledge of property features. Training is often provided by employers, and a valid driver’s license is usually required to access different properties. Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions are important for documenting homes accurately.

What type of inspectors make the most money?

In general, inspectors with specialized skills, certifications, or experience tend to earn higher salaries. For example, building inspectors, electrical inspectors, and quality control inspectors often make more than general or entry-level inspectors. Home-based photo inspectors typically earn less than specialized or licensed inspectors in fields like construction or safety compliance.

What is the difference between Home Based Photo Inspector vs Home Based Property Inspector?

AspectHome Based Photo InspectorHome Based Property Inspector
Required CredentialsBasic photography skills, possibly certification in inspection or insuranceReal estate or property inspection certification, sometimes licensing
Work EnvironmentRemote, primarily using a camera and inspection appRemote or on-site, inspecting properties visually
Employer & Industry UsageInsurance companies, inspection firms, real estateReal estate agencies, insurance companies, property management
Search & Comparison IntentUnderstanding inspection roles involving photos from homeUnderstanding property inspection jobs from home

The Home Based Photo Inspector focuses on capturing images remotely for insurance or inspection purposes, often requiring photography skills. The Home Based Property Inspector may perform visual assessments of properties, sometimes on-site or remotely, with a focus on real estate or property condition. Both roles are remote-friendly and serve similar industries, but differ mainly in their specific tasks and required certifications.

Are home inspectors still in demand?

Home inspectors are still in demand as the real estate market remains active, and property transactions require inspections. The role often involves evaluating homes for safety and compliance, with opportunities growing in residential and commercial sectors, especially for inspectors with certification and experience. Demand can vary by region and economic conditions but generally remains steady due to ongoing property transactions.

What is the highest paid photography job?

In the photography field, commercial and fine art photographers tend to earn the highest salaries, especially those working in advertising, fashion, or with high-profile clients. Home-based photo inspectors typically earn less, as their role involves quality control and documentation rather than high-end photography work. Advanced skills, experience, and specialized equipment can influence earning potential in photography careers.
