Job description

Description:

Caregiver Relief Services at Parc Center for Disabilities

Community & Family Home Based | Part-Time | Non-Exempt

Serving Families Throughout Pinellas County

To best meet the needs of the individuals receiving services, we are seeking a Male Respite Care Partner to provide compassionate care, supervision, and community-based support to our male youth participants.

Make a Difference Where It Matters Most

At Parc Center for Disabilities, we support children with developmental delays and disabilities—and the families who care for them. Through our nationally recognized Caregiver Relief Services program, we provide compassionate in-home respite so caregivers can take a break knowing their child is safe, supported, and engaged. This part-time position offers flexible scheduling, meaningful work, and the opportunity to make a real impact in your community.

Under the supervision of the Caregiver Relief Services Manager, the Caregiver Relief Respite Care Partner provides support to children with developmental delays, disabilities, and trauma-related needs in home and community settings. This role is ideal for dependable, compassionate individuals who enjoy mentoring youth, building positive relationships, and providing safe, engaging, and individualized care. Family Care Partners are thoughtfully matched with families based on their skills, experience, and geographic location to help ensure the best possible fit and continuity of care for both the child and caregiver.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide short-term, one-on-one care to individuals with disabilities in their home or community
  • Enjoy flexible scheduling that fits your availability
  • Follow individualized care plans to provide safe, consistent, and engaging support
  • Assist with daily activities including supervision, meal preparation, personal care, and recreational outings
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals during scheduled visits
  • Communicate professionally with families and program staff regarding needs or concerns
  • Complete required documentation and accurately track service hours
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all agency policies and procedures

Requirements:

We’re Looking For

  • Compassionate, dependable male role models who enjoy working with children and young adults with disabilities
  • Strong communication and professionalism
  • Ability to work independently in home and community settings
  • Flexible availability, including evenings or weekends preferred
  • Experience in childcare, healthcare, education, or disability support preferred but not required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Schedule & Compensation

  • Part-time, flexible hours
  • Primarily evenings and weekends
  • Must work at least one weekend day per month
  • Minimum of 10 hours worked per month

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to observe, see, hear, and respond to children’s needs, emergencies, and conflicts
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds from floor to waist height
  • Ability to reach a child 20–30 feet away within 30 seconds
  • Ability to crouch, sit on the floor, maintain eye contact at a child’s level, and transition quickly between positions
  • Physical, visual, and auditory awareness of children’s cognitive, social, and physical needs

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to pass required background screening
  • Compliance with Drug-Free Workplace standards
  • This position requires screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse. Learn more at https://info.flclearinghouse.com
