Home Based Notary Signing Agent information

What is the difference between Home Based Notary Signing Agent vs Loan Processor?

AspectHome Based Notary Signing AgentLoan Processor
CredentialsNotary commission, signing agent certificationLoan processing certifications, mortgage knowledge
Work EnvironmentHome office, client locations, remoteOffice setting, client meetings, remote options
Employer & IndustryIndependent, signing services, title companiesBanks, mortgage companies, lenders
Primary TasksNotarizing documents, facilitating signingsReviewing loan documents, processing applications

The main difference is that a Home Based Notary Signing Agent focuses on notarizing and facilitating document signings, often working independently or with signing services. In contrast, a Loan Processor handles the review and processing of mortgage applications, typically employed by lenders or banks. Both roles require specific certifications and are integral to the real estate and mortgage industry, but they serve different functions within the loan process.

Can a home based notary signing agent work remotely?

A home-based notary signing agent can perform many tasks remotely, such as reviewing documents and scheduling appointments, but must be physically present to notarize signatures, which requires in-person verification. Some states allow remote online notarizations with certified platforms, expanding remote work options for notary signing agents. Certification and adherence to state laws are essential for remote notarizations.

Do home based notary signing agents make good money?

Home based notary signing agents can earn varying income depending on the number of signings they complete, their experience, and the fees they charge per appointment. Typically, they earn between $75 and $200 per signing, with some agents making a full-time income by handling multiple signings weekly. Success often depends on certifications, marketing, and building a client base.
