Job description

Whether you come from a background in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering, you can be successful in this role. We don't require a specific degree or experience, but we're looking for translatable skills and relevant expertise. We will provide you with the training and development opportunities needed to build a career here!

About The Role:

As a DevOps Platform Engineer, you'll help build and support the infrastructure that powers our technology teams. This role is heavily focused on Kubernetes and the platform side of cloud-native infrastructure. We're looking for someone who understands how the pieces fit together behind the scenes and enjoys solving complex infrastructure problems.

You'll partner closely with Software Engineers, Security, and other Technology teams to design, automate, and improve the systems our teams rely on every day. From troubleshooting weird platform issues to building repeatable automation and improving the developer experience, your work will directly impact how quickly and reliably teams can deliver solutions. While Kubernetes is the primary focus, experience across cloud environments like AWS, Azure, and GCP will help set you up for success as we continue expanding our cloud-native workloads.

Here's a snapshot of what you'd be doing:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining Kubernetes-based infrastructure and platform tooling that supports scalable, resilient applications.

  • Automating repeatable infrastructure tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and tools like Terraform or similar technologies.

  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and platform issues across cloud and containerized environments.

  • Partnering with Software Engineering teams to improve platform usability, reliability, and developer workflows.

  • Supporting observability, monitoring, and system health initiatives to improve visibility and reduce downtime.

  • Helping evaluate and support cloud-native technologies across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments.

  • Creating and maintaining documentation that helps teams confidently use and support the platform.

  • Participating in a rotational on-call schedule and supporting incident response when needed.

  • Pitching in wherever needed (excluding licensed tasks) to help foster a supportive and collaborative team culture.

About You:

  • You enjoy digging into complex infrastructure problems and figuring out how all the moving pieces work together.

  • Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies excite you, and you're comfortable supporting containerized environments in production.

  • You have a strong automation mindset and look for ways to simplify repetitive work and improve efficiency.

  • You're experienced with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.

  • You're comfortable working with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and/or GCP and are interested in expanding your cloud expertise.

  • You know how to communicate technical concepts clearly and work well with cross-functional teams.

  • You thrive in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments where priorities can shift quickly.

  • You're comfortable working independently, but you also enjoy partnering with co-workers to solve problems together.

  • You show up consistently and can be counted on to get the job done.

  • You're flexible and available to jump in when needed, even outside regular business hours or on weekends.

About Us:

We're all about helping Veterans and military families become homeowners. In two short decades, we closed over 500,000 VA Loans and became the #1 VA lender for homebuyers in the nation. But to us, success isn't measured in numbers. Our success is measured in living our values every day: Be Passionate and Have Fun, Deliver Results with Integrity and Enhance Lives Every Day. We always strive to provide friendly service to military homebuyers and their families. And we always seek to lift up people and communities across the country.

We're so glad you're here checking out this opportunity! If this role gets you excited but you're worried you don't check every box - don't sweat it. We're more interested in what you can bring to the team than a perfect checklist. If you're passionate, driven, and ready to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.Come as you are, and together we'll create something amazing.
