About This Role

I am seeking a responsible and caring Home Daycare Assistant to help with the day-to-day care of children in my home-based state licensed daycare located in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach. The Assistant will work closely with myself to create a safe, enriching, and fun environment for children while promoting their development and well-being. This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am until 4:00pm (exact hours negotiable).


What You'll Do
  • Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate play, crafts, outdoor activities, and learning experiences.
  • Assist with daily routines including arrival, meals, nap time, and departure.
  • Prepare and serve snacks and meals as provided by parents.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized daycare environment.
  • Support children with toileting, diapering, and personal hygiene as needed.
  • Provide comfort, encouragement, and emotional support to children.
  • Observe and communicate children’s needs, behaviors, and progress to the daycare provider.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of activities and daily care routines.
  • Follow safety, health, and licensing guidelines at all times.

Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children (babysitting, daycare, school, or volunteer work preferred).
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing personality with a genuine love for children.
  • Ability to manage small groups of children with energy and positivity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge of child development and early learning practices preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (I will provide and pay for training).
  • Background check, TB test—as applicable for licensing.
  • 18 years of age or older with reliable transportation.
