Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist the Golf Services Manager in the management of day-to-day golf operations at one of the City's municipal golf courses, Tangle Ridge Golf Course and Prairie Lakes Golf Course. The position is responsible for supervising and managing total Pro Shop operations in the absence of the Golf Services Manager. Monitors pace of play, daily inspection of cart fleet, conduct lessons and clinic, inspects, and maintains driving range and learning center. Assists Golf Services Manager by overseeing merchandise inventory and restocking, daily reports, and the development of marketing and promotional plans. Supervises and schedules Pro Shop employees, golf cart attendants, and marshals.
Essential Job Functions
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 10 pounds on occasion.
  • Supervises pro shop operations, including but not limited to opening and closing of the course and Pro Shop, daily reports, cash closeout, collection of greens fees, cart rental, and Pro Shop sales, daily fleet inspections, and golf cart rentals.
  • Assist the Golf Services Manager with supervising and scheduling pro shop staff, golf cart attendants, and marshals.
  • Responsible for training of all service staff including cart attendants, starters, and range attendants.
  • Provides Raving Fans customer service by greeting and assisting customers, checking in and announcing start times, managing pace of play, handling escalated customer complaints, reporting unsafe conditions, and closing the course as needed based on safety.
  • Assist in managing tournament operations with groups holding independent tournaments. Plan, organize, and administer department golf tournament. Handle calls and requests related to tournament scheduling.
  • Aids learning center activities by providing lessons on demand, conducting daily clinics, daily inspections of driving range, putting green and learning center.
  • Assists with inventory control of hard goods, special orders, ordering procedures, receiving procedures, displays, and special sales items and or sales promotions.
  • Helps develop marketing for and promotion of programs and events for the golf course. Staffs trade shows, special events and departmental functions.
  • Performs some administrative duties by taking phone calls, ordering supplies, and collecting fees.
  • Provides assistance to Golf Services Manager.
  • Regular and dependable attendance is required.
  • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Over three years of related experience. Must be part of the PGA Program
  • Licenses: Valid Class C Driver's License required
