Job description

Responsibilities

Hickory Trail Hospital, a 86-bed behavioral health facility located just south of Dallas (Desoto, TX), has been providing quality health care to the residents of DFW since 1988. Hickory Trail Hospital provides inpatient and day treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each client's case and their family's needs. Because crisis occurs at all times of the day and night, our services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Job Summary:
Are you passionate about helping others heal through creativity? At Hickory Trail Hospital, our Expressive Arts Therapists use the power of art and creative expression to help patients process emotions, build resilience, and develop healthy coping skills. As a Contract Expressive Arts Therapist, you will facilitate engaging therapeutic experiences that encourage self-discovery, communication, and personal growth for adolescents and adults in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This is an opportunity to combine your artistic talents with your clinical skills in a supportive, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to recovery and hope. We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and energetic professional who believes that healing can happen through painting, drawing, mixed media, journaling, and other forms of artistic expression.


Qualifications

Education: Credentialed or eligible for credentialing as an Art Therapist (ATR), Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or another related behavioral health license/certification preferred

Experience: One (1) year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of Handle with Care training. Certification and training may be obtained during new hire orientation.
