Our mission is to provide students with the academic skills and self-discipline needed for college and life success through high-quality instruction, intensive academic supports, and hard work. We are a new college preparatory elementary and middle school serving the students of Jackson, MS.
Bus Driver SY 2026-2027

Ambition Preparatory Charter School is deeply committed to ensuring that every student in grades K-8 receives the high-quality education they deserve. Our mission is to provide students with the academic skills and self-discipline needed for college and life success through high-quality instruction, intensive academic supports, and hard work. We are a new college preparatory elementary and middle school serving the students of Jackson, MS.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Safe Transportation
    • Transport students to and from school, field trips, sporting events, and other off-campus activities.
    • Follow a planned route and schedule, adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
    • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus.
    • Ensure the safety of all students while on the bus.
  • Student Management
    • Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities.
    • Verify permissions for students riding home with friends.
    • Maintain discipline and a safe environment on the bus.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
    • Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
  • Professional Conduct
    • Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
    • Attend safety meetings and training as required.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and interact positively with students and parents
This job involves sitting for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and climbing. Able to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel, enter, and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. Random drug tests may be performed.

Qualifications
  • Possess a current MS driver;'s license and Commercial Driver's License Class B with a school bus endorsement required
  • You must meet specific physical, hearing, and vision requirements as outlined by the Mississippi Department of Education. This includes passing annual physical examinations required
  • Be able to pass a background check required
  • Successfully pass pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing throughout employment required
  • High School diploma or its equivalent required
