Description & Requirements
About Us
The Enterprise Products Platform (EPP) API Infrastructure team modernizes how Bloomberg Enterprise Products define, design, govern, and deliver APIs at scale. We build internal platforms, developer tooling, reusable data-modeling capabilities, and lifecycle automation that help product and engineering teams create consistent, interoperable, and client-ready APIs across Bloomberg's buy-side and sell-side enterprise workflows.
Our mission is to accelerate API-first development across Enterprise Products by reducing friction in the API lifecycle, improving model reuse, enabling high-quality OpenAPI specifications, and giving teams the tools they need to validate API designs early. We partner closely with vertical engineering teams, product managers, data modelers, API Governance, and the Web API Platform to help Bloomberg deliver modular, scalable, and consistent programmatic access to enterprise workflows.
A key platform we build is Bloomberg's internal portal for API products, modeling, and developer workflows. The platform helps teams discover APIs, define API requirements, reuse canonical models, prototype API specifications, validate designs, and test APIs through mock and sandbox workflows. Our team also works on AI-assisted API modeling and design, OpenAPI generation, API lineage, developer experience, and automation across the model-to-design lifecycle.
We are looking for engineers who are excited by platform engineering, developer tooling, API design, data modeling, and building systems that make other teams faster and more effective.
We'll trust you to:
  • Design and build scalable internal platforms that support API planning, modeling, specification generation, validation, testing, and lifecycle automation.
  • Build product-quality developer tools that help teams create high-quality OpenAPI and TypeSpec artifacts with strong model consistency, standards compliance, useful diagnostics, and early validation feedback.
  • Evolve API discovery, reusable model libraries, specification prototyping, mock testing, and AI-assisted design workflows.
  • Own features end-to-end, from requirements and technical design through implementation, rollout, observability, and support.
  • Partner across engineering, product, modeling, governance, and platform teams to simplify API development workflows and reduce handoffs.
  • Lead technical design discussions, mentor other engineers, and make pragmatic tradeoffs across UX, architecture, delivery risk, and long-term maintainability.

You'll need to have:
  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience in TypeScript, Python, Java, or another production programming language.
  • Experience building web applications, developer tools, internal platforms, APIs, or services in a production environment.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, code review, debugging, and operational ownership.
  • Ability to work across teams, clarify ambiguous requirements, and drive alignment between engineering, product, and platform stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ownership of non-trivial features or services from technical design through production rollout, adoption, and support.
  • Strong communication skills and a practical approach to balancing technical quality, delivery speed, and long-term maintainability.

We'd love to see:
  • Experience with OpenAPI, TypeSpec, JSON Schema, GraphQL, REST API design, API governance, or API lifecycle tooling.rate it
  • Experience building developer-facing platforms, internal portals, workflow automation, code generation tools, mock servers, SDK generation, or testing frameworks.
  • Experience or strong interest in frontend development using React, TypeScript, Monaco editor, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with graph databases, metadata systems, lineage tooling, search, catalogue, or discovery platforms.
  • Experience applying AI or LLM-assisted workflows to developer productivity, code generation, documentation, or API design.
  • Familiarity with financial technology workflows such as portfolio management, order management, trading, risk, transactions, positions, instruments, or enterprise data integration.

Why Join Us
You will help shape the foundation of Bloomberg's Enterprise Products API platform. The work you do will influence how teams design and deliver APIs used across critical client workflows in portfolio management, trading, risk, reporting, data ingestion, and enterprise integration.
This is a high-impact platform role with a rare mix of product thinking, API design, developer tooling, data modeling, UX, and systems engineering. The role is well suited for engineers who enjoy solving ambiguous platform problems, working across organizational boundaries, and turning complex API lifecycle workflows into practical, self-service developer experiences.
