Job description

Commercial AV Installation Lead

Full-Time | Field-Based


Overview

Collabtech Group is seeking experienced Commercial AV Installation Leads to oversee and perform professional audio visual installations throughout the San Jose/ San Francisco Bay Area.


This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has extensive experience installing and leading crews on commercial AV projects including LED video walls, projection systems, large-format displays, in-ceiling speakers, DSP systems, AV racks, structured cabling, low-voltage infrastructure, etc.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial AV integration, can read signal flow and construction drawings, and is comfortable leading technicians on active construction and renovation projects.


If your experience is primarily in IT support, help desk, home theater/residential AV, or event production, this position is likely not the right fit.


What You'll Do: Lead Commercial AV Installations

  • Lead commercial AV installation projects from start to finish
  • Direct and supervise installation crews on active job sites
  • Coordinate daily field activities to ensure projects remain on schedule
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to project managers and leadership


Install and Integrate AV Systems

  • Install LED video walls and direct view LED systems
  • Install commercial projectors and projection screens
  • Mount large-format displays, confidence monitors, and digital signage
  • Install in-ceiling, pendant, and surface-mounted speaker systems
  • Build, wire, label, and dress AV equipment racks
  • Install conferencing systems, DSPs, control systems, and AV hardware
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and final commissioning


Low Voltage & Infrastructure Installation

  • Pull and route CAT6, fiber optic, and low-voltage cabling
  • Install conduit, cable pathways, J-hooks, and support structures
  • Perform cable terminations including RJ45, DB9, Phoenix/captive screw, fiber, and BNC connections
  • Maintain industry-leading cable management and installation standards


Read and Interpret Construction Documents

  • Work from floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, shop drawings, and signal flow diagrams
  • Verify installation locations and identify conflicts before installation begins
  • Coordinate with other trades when required


Required Experience: Applicants Must Have Experience With Most of the Following:

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of commercial AV installation experience
  • Experience leading technicians on commercial job sites
  • Strong understanding of AV integration and low-voltage systems
  • Ability to read signal flow diagrams, wiring schematics, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and elevations
  • Experience with cable management, labeling, and documentation standards
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication skills and customer-facing experience
  • Ability to travel to local and regional job sites as required
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $96,000 - $102,000 per year- DOE
