New Increased RN Pay Rates!
Do you want to join an organization that invests in you as a(an) Resident II Registered Nurse? At Wesley Medical Center, you come first. HCA Healthcare has committed up to $300 million in programs to support our incredible team members over the course of three years.
Job Summary and Qualifications
"I've been on PCU for 20 years because I love having personal contact with my patients. When I walk into a patient's room, the first thing they do is look at me; I'm confident, and the patient says, "This is the nurse I'm looking for!" I say, "My name is Tien and i'm here to help you!" They say, "I can see the potential that you're going to get me better" and I respond with, "You got it!"
Tien, Progressive Care Unit RN and Clinical Nurse Coordinator at HCA Healthcare
As a Progressive Care Unit nurse, you'll be able to witness a patient's positive and steady progression, enjoy interaction with patients, while still delivering true critical care. You be trained to handle advanced medical equipment, but your patients will not necessarily require the life-sustaining equipment and support to the extent of intensive care units. Nurse-to-patient ratios on PCU are slightly higher than on intensive care units, and the same - and oftentimes lower - than emergency department ratios. You'll have autonomy to make medical decisions rapidly under standard protocols, similar to the ICU. The PCU is considered critical care, so you'll enjoy similar growth opportunities as ICU RNs, including specialized ICUs, Cardiac Cath Lab, PACU, Case Management and more.
Patient Care Delivery: As a Resident II Registered Nurse on Progressive Care (PCU), you'll deliver high-quality, patient-centered care through patient assessment, procedures, medication administration, and close monitoring of patients' therapeutic responses. You will apply established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach and Manage" to guide your practice.

  • Documentation: You will promptly document patient conditions, care provided, and patient responses in their medical record. You will report any changes in status or treatment responses to the provider and intervene as needed.
  • Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: You will serve as a vital member of a diverse multidisciplinary team-including medical providers, allied health professionals, and nursing support-working collaboratively to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.
  • Patient Education: You will educate patients on their medical condition, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, follow-up measures, and more.
  • Clinical Excellence: You will engage in evidence-based best practices and continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance the patient experience and patient outcomes, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
What qualifications you will need:
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • Registered Nurse Diploma
No Travel Required
No experience Required Years of Experience
