What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Hole Watch on a job site?

As a Hole Watch, your primary responsibility is to remain stationed at the entrance of a confined space and continuously monitor the safety of the workers inside. You'll regularly check environmental monitoring equipment, maintain clear communication with team members, and ensure that all safety procedures and entry permits are followed. In the event of an emergency, you must quickly alert the team and initiate the appropriate rescue or evacuation process. The role requires unwavering attentiveness, as you serve as a critical safeguard for the well-being of your coworkers in potentially hazardous environments.

What is a Hole Watch job?

A Hole Watch, also known as a Confined Space Attendant, is responsible for monitoring workers inside confined spaces to ensure their safety. They maintain constant communication, watch for hazards such as toxic gases or low oxygen levels, and initiate emergency procedures if needed. Their primary duty is to enforce safety protocols and ensure workers can exit safely in case of an emergency. Hole Watch personnel must be trained in confined space safety regulations and emergency response.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Hole Watch position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Hole Watch, you need a strong awareness of safety protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to monitor confined spaces, often requiring a basic understanding of workplace safety procedures. Familiarity with gas detection equipment, communication devices, and sometimes certification in confined space entry or OSHA safety training is typically expected. Strong observational skills, reliability, and clear communication enable you to react quickly and effectively in emergency situations. These skills are vital to ensure the safety of workers in confined spaces and to help prevent accidents or hazardous incidents on job sites.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

A Hole Watch job typically does not pay $4,000 a week without specialized experience or overtime. High-paying roles that can reach this level without a degree include certain skilled trades like commercial diving, oilfield work, or construction management, which often require certifications and physical endurance. These jobs usually involve hazardous environments and demanding schedules but can offer high weekly earnings for experienced workers.

How much does a hole watch make?

A hole watch typically earns between $15 and $25 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the job. The role often requires safety training and familiarity with underground work environments, which can influence pay rates.

Do Firewatch jobs still exist?

Firewatch jobs, including roles like Hole Watch, still exist in industries such as construction, forestry, and mining, where personnel monitor fire hazards and ensure safety during hot work or dry conditions. These positions often require safety training, fire suppression skills, and adherence to safety protocols. The availability depends on industry demand and regional regulations.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A Hole Watch job typically involves monitoring construction or excavation sites, which is usually performed on-site rather than from home. To earn $2000 weekly, workers may need to work full-time shifts, gain experience, or take on multiple sites, but most monitoring roles require physical presence at the job site. Remote work in this field is uncommon, so increasing income often involves gaining specialized skills or certifications and working longer hours or additional shifts.

STRATEGY

Republic Services' strategy is designed to generate profitable growth. Through acquisitions and industry advancements, we safely and sustainably manage our customers' multiple waste streams through a North American footprint of vertically integrated assets.

We focus on three areas of growth to meet the increasing needs of our customers: recycling and waste, environmental solutions and sustainability innovation.

With our integrated approach, strengthening our position in one area advances other areas of our business. For example, as we grow volume in recycling and waste, we collect additional material to bolster our circularity capabilities. And as we expand environmental solutions, we drive additional opportunities to provide these services to our existing recycling and waste customers.

Recycling and Waste

We continue to expand our recycling and waste business footprint throughout North America through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. The 13 million customers we serve and our more than 5 million pick-ups per day provide us with a distinct advantage. We aggregate materials at scale, unlocking new opportunities for advanced recycling. In addition, we are cross-selling new products and services to better meet our customers' specific needs.

Environmental Solutions

Our comprehensive environmental solutions capabilities help customers safely manage their most technical waste streams. We are expanding both our capabilities and our geographic footprint. We see strong growth opportunities for our offerings, including PFAS remediation, an increasing customer need.

Sustainability Innovation

Republic's recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation's first integrated plastics recycling facility. These innovative sites process rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

Our customers are increasingly looking for decarbonization solutions, and we are leveraging our network of landfills to meet that need. Republic is committed to harnessing landfill gas, a natural byproduct of decomposing waste, and converting it to energy. Republic has partnered with renewable gas developers to construct Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plants at our landfills, expanding beyond the 77 projects we currently have to make progress towards our goal to beneficially reuse 50% more biogas by 2030 (2017 baseline year).
