Position: Line Cook
Location: Hive Bakery & Cafe
Position Summary:
The Line Cook is responsible for preparing food to order according to Hive Bakery & Cafe's recipes, procedures, quality expectations, and speed levels.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation:
  • Prepare food according to recipes, procedures, and standards within allowable time guidelines.
  • Maintain assigned par levels of food items.
  • Continuously be aware of special events, menu changes, and special orders as necessary.

Operational Duties:
  • Maintain, stock, restock, clean, and organize work area.
  • Complete opening, side, and closing duties in a timely manner following established standard operating procedures.
  • Safely operate and maintain cleanliness of equipment.

Training and Knowledge:
  • Complete and pass required training classes and modules-both initial and ongoing.
  • Be knowledgeable and provide basic information to guests about the restaurant and Hive Collective.

Guest Interaction:
  • Communicate information regarding guest requests, complaints, and ideas to management immediately.
  • Execute service and hospitality in accordance with Hive Bakery & Cafe standards.

Sanitation and Safety:
  • Follow sanitation and safety standards.
  • Practice proper and safe food handling, storage, receiving, stocking, and rotating procedures.

Communication and Flexibility:
  • Respond appropriately to other assigned duties from the management team.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all company policies as outlined in the company handbook.
  • Be flexible with scheduling (must be available to work weekends and holidays).

Accountabilities:
  • Prepare food according to recipes, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain a clean uniform and professional appearance.
  • Assist in keeping the restaurant clean and safe for guests and team members.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and positive, effective communication skills.
  • Ensure all cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are maintained.

Qualifications:
Education:

  • Professional attire and appearance in keeping with Hive Bakery & Cafe standards.

Skills:
  • Able to read and understand English and have basic math and computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and ability to learn quickly.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (bags/boxes) and carry short distances.
  • Able to stand and walk during 8-10 hour shifts.
  • Able to work closely with other staff at a fast pace, under pressure, maintaining quality standards and often in confined areas.
  • Able to reach (up to 6 feet overhead), bend, stoop, and wipe.
  • Able to work at approximately 36-inch table/stove and reach in approximately 36 inches.

Safety and Flexibility:
  • Understand hazards such as cuts, burns, slips, trips, and falls.
  • Able to complete additional tasks assigned by management.
  • Able to meet all standards for safe food handling.
