Job description

Job Title: Senior/Principal Process Engineer

Job Description

This position is responsible for performing the process engineering design functions, including the design of combustion and steam turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, process control/instrumentation design integration, and start-up support. The designs must meet contract and schedule requirements for power projects in the Americas. Candidates need to possess effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. This position requires a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare heat and material balances and process flow diagrams (PFDs).
  • Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Create process data sheets for equipment such as heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
  • Understand process instrumentation and control principles.
  • Perform and review hydraulic calculations.
  • Specify and select control valves.
  • Conduct heat exchanger thermal calculations.
  • Size pumps and other equipment.
  • Possess a basic understanding of design work processes.

Essential Skills

  • 10-20 years of experience in process engineering.
  • Proficient in creating and managing P&IDs.
  • Experience with equipment sizing including heat exchangers, pumps, and valves.
  • Familiarity with HYSYS software.
  • Knowledge of chemical and mechanical engineering principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with AFT, SmartPlant, and hydraulic systems.
  • Either a Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • HYSYS software experience is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in the power industry is not required.

Work Environment

The team comprises 14 process engineers and 2 interns. Travel may be required for 1-2 weeks at a time, a few times per year, but it is infrequent. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.50/hr.
