Job description

Summary: HTCC is looking for a Hindu 'Priest' post with the following requirements. Role:

Hindu Priest with following qualifications, and having cultural background/knowledge of South Indian regions.

1. 3 + years of experience* working in a temple after attending a religious based school, in any one of the following Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Sanskrit language, and fluent in Hindi, English in addition to having knowledge of Sanskrit. Having knowledge of north Indian languages like Hindi  and south Indian languages is a plus/desirable.

2. Ability to correspond in English and handling emails is essential. Note: *experience: in India, USA or another country, after completing the educational aspects/Vedic training

Requirements and terms in general:

1. Vaishnava Agama Shastra/disciple with ability to perform regular poojas without any inhibitions (of performing cross Sampradaya activities). Familiarity with a  wide variety of skills across samprayadaya (South India, North India, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada community specific cultural/religious observances is desired).

2. Familiar in conducting abhishekam of various deities, havan,  special ceremonies like marriage, baby shower, naming ceremony, aksharabhayasam, mundan ceremony, Shashti poorthi, Sahasra Chandra darshanam, karma kand like shraddha and funeral services. Also specialize in administering religious services and poojas like daily/ nitya pooja, vahana pooja, Satyanarayana vratha pooja, Grihpravesh, Sri Sudarshana havann/homam, Devi pooja , Experience in vishesha poojas Sri Rama Navami, Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Sri Devi Navaratri poojas. Familiarity with Karwa Chauth, Chaath pooja rituals,  festivals like Lohri/Bhogi to name a few. Familiarity in conducting kalyanam services like: Sri Parvathi Kalyanam, Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam, Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam, Sri Goda/Sri Andaal Kalyanam to name a few. Familiarity Sri Jagannatha Ratha Yatra rituals is desired

3. Familiar with Maha Ganpathi , Sri Rudra, Sri Gayathri, Sri Chandi & Vaastu Homam and different shanthi poojas like Navagraha, Bhoomi, graha and tithi shanthi pooja.

4. Skilled in singing bhajans, Vishnu Sahasaranam parayan , Sri Lalitha Sahasranamam, arathi of various deities and conducting pravachans which include Sri Hanuman Chalisa 

5. Perform all pooja rituals and annual ceremonies including moola mantras and Nava graha shanthi poojas. Ability to perform shraddha and cremation ceremonies is preferable.

6. The candidate should also specialize in deity decorations, especially Moola &  Utsav Murthy(s), preferable requirement for candidates to have religious/devotional cooking skills to prepare/cook  - "neivedhyam/bhog" on a daily basis or as required by temple festivals/pooja/ religious celebrations.

7. The post also calls for taking care of all internal garbha grihas in the temple, and/or attending out of temple religious services as scheduled by HTCC in coordination with devotee needs within Greater Seattle Area or further as required. 

8. Initial employment agreement will be for 3 years (or lesser if employment is based on R 1 Visa duration) The contract will be renewed annually based on satisfactory performance to job requirements.

Salary and Benefits: Will commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experiences + HTCC unique healthcare package added with accommodation faculties. HTCC is willing to sponsor an R1 visa for the selected candidate for self and family subject to approval by the Board of HTCC. A signed offer letter, contract and agreement to terms of employment is required if selected for the job.
