Position Description

Silver Star Construction is an employee-owned, Oklahoma-based heavy highway contractor specializing in asphalt paving, concrete, earthwork, stabilization, and roadway construction. We are seeking an experienced Civil Highway Asphalt Foreman to lead paving crews, ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, and deliver the high-quality workmanship our customers expect.
What You'll Do
    • Lead and supervise asphalt paving crews on highway and roadway construction projects.
    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring safety and quality remain the top priorities.
    • Coordinate daily work activities, equipment, materials, and manpower to maximize productivity.
    • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure work is performed correctly.
    • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure crews follow company policies and OSHA requirements.
    • Verify that OKIE locates and required erosion control measures are in place before work begins.
    • Communicate project progress, production goals, and any issues with Superintendents, Project Managers, and Inspectors.
    • Monitor paving operations to ensure proper grade, depth, compaction, and overall quality.
    • Identify and resolve field challenges while minimizing downtime.
    • Coordinate with the Maintenance Department to schedule equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
    • Train, mentor, and develop crew members to improve performance and efficiency.
    • Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, and equipment documentation.

Position Requirements
Qualifications
    • 3+ years of asphalt paving foreman or supervisory experience preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of highway asphalt paving operations and construction practices.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and project specifications.
    • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage field crews.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (5 points or fewer preferred).
    • Ability to pass a background check, drug screen, and physical.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and project teams.

Physical Requirements
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
    • Willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends as project schedules require.
    • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, crouching, and shoveling.
    • Must be committed to following all company safety policies and procedures.
