LPNs working in metropolitan areas or states with a higher cost of living also tend to earn more. Additionally, LPNs who take on night shifts, overtime, or supervisory roles may see higher pay. Experience, additional certifications, and working for staffing agencies can also boost an LPN's salary.

What types of healthcare settings typically offer the highest salaries for LPNs?

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) often find the highest salaries in specialized settings such as nursing care facilities, home healthcare, and government agencies. These environments may involve more complex patient needs or non-traditional hours, which can lead to higher pay rates. Additionally, LPNs who work in metropolitan areas or regions with higher costs of living tend to earn more. It's also common for LPNs to increase their earning potential by taking on supervisory roles or working overtime shifts.

Experience with electronic health records (EHRs), IV therapy certification, and familiarity with specialized healthcare software often distinguish top earners. Exceptional communication, attention to detail, and adaptability help LPNs excel in demanding environments and build trust with patients and colleagues.
