WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • The Chief Inspector (CI) is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring FAA Part 145 regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and airworthiness standards across L2 Aviation’s repair station operations. This is a working leadership role, meaning the CI will actively perform avionics modifications and repairs alongside inspection and regulatory duties. The CI coordinates with remote field teams, supervises inspection activities, and maintains rigorous documentation and quality oversight. You will:
    • Ensure all inspection and maintenance activities comply with FAA Part 145, Repair Station Manual (RSM), Quality Control Manual (QCM), manufacturer requirements, and customer standards.
    • Maintain current knowledge of FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and Service Bulletins (SBs).
    • Develop and implement inspection procedures for incoming, in-process, and final work.
    • Perform inspections of avionics components, aircraft systems, and maintenance activities to verify compliance.
    • Monitor calibration of tools and test equipment to ensure traceability and operational readiness.
    • Manage the repair station’s quality assurance program, including audits, non-conformance investigations, and corrective actions.
    • Review and approve documentation, including logbook entries, work orders, and maintenance releases.
    • Ensure adherence to record retention requirements defined in the RSM/QCM.
    • Lead, mentor, and support inspectors and avionics technicians, reinforcing a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism.
    • Provide training on inspection techniques, regulatory updates, and quality assurance best practices.
    • Actively perform avionics modifications and repairs when not engaged in inspection duties.
    • Maintain accurate, complete records of inspections, audits, and maintenance activities.
    • Oversee traceability of aircraft parts and ensure compliance with FAA documentation standards.
    • Coordinate with Accountable Manager, RAMS Manager, Project Managers, and remote teams to resolve inspection or quality concerns.
    • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding inspection findings, compliance requirements, and corrective actions.
    • Proactively report irregularities, incidents, or quality concerns to management.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Repair Station and company objectives.

WHAT YOU BRING:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate/Bachelor’s in Aviation Maintenance preferred.
    • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License required; Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of aviation maintenance and inspection experience; avionics modification experience strongly preferred.
    • Prior supervisory or management experience in a Part 145 Repair Station environment.
    • Strong knowledge of FAA Part 145 regulations, RSM, and QCM requirements.
    • Proficiency in inspection techniques, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
    • Ability to read and interpret avionics manuals, schematics, and technical data.
    • Familiarity with maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to travel 40% or more, including short-notice assignments to remote sites.
    • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to motivate and support field technicians.
    • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
    • Must submit to and pass pre-employment drug testing and any applicable company/FAA Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program that may be required.
    • Must be able to pass required background checks, including a 10-year TSA check if airport access or badging is required.
